Expect Delays as Fleet Week Begins
Posted June 2, 2025 by Streetcar
As the 2025 Rose Festival gets underway, Portland Streetcar riders should expect delays throughout the afternoon and evening on Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4, as Fleet Week ships arrive to dock at Waterfront Park. Ships visiting Portland as part of Fleet Week require frequent--and sometimes lengthy--lifts of the Broadway Bridge, which causes delays not just for streetcars that cross the river but also residual delays elsewhere on the system.
Tuesday, June 3: Ships will be arriving between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 4: Ships will be arriving between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
These arrivals can be a bit unpredictable and the bridge may be up longer than usual, so riders should plan extra time for streetcar trips.
All ships will depart beginning in the morning on Monday, June 9, which will require another round of bridge lifts.
