Celebrate 25 Years of Streetcar!

Posted July 16, 2026 by Streetcar

Celebrate 25 years of streetcar! Portland Streetcar began service on July 20, 2001, giving us a reason to thank all the employees, riders and other Portlanders that have made 25 years of transit memories.

With millions of rides taken, thousands of housing units built, critical connections in the central city created and much more to come over the next 25 years, we have a lot to be excited about. Join us for a couple of special opportunities to say thank you next week, and stay tuned for more events later this summer!

Monday, July 20: Free Coffee for Streetcar Riders
Join Portland Streetcar at the Central Library stop (SW 10th and Yamhill) on Monday morning for free coffee provided by our neighbors at Case Study Coffee. One of our busiest downtown weekday stops will host coffee and lots of Portland Streetcar swag to celebrate the riders that keep us moving. 8-10am, SW 10th & Yamhill

Friday, July 24: Breakfast on the Bridges
We're teaming up with the Breakfast on the Bridges crew to greet folks at the west end of the Tilikum Crossing, where we'll have donuts and Portland Streetcar gear to give away. Come enjoy the summer sun among some world-class transit infrastructure. 7-9am, west end of the Tilikum Crossing

We'll continue to celebrate through the summer, so stay tuned for more upcoming events.
