The Portland Art Museum's renovation and expansion opens to the public Thursday, November 20, with four days of free admission to celebrate. Riders can access the museum directly from the Art Museum stop on SW 10th Avenue, or walk from the stop at SW 11th and Jefferson.
The museum's transformation includes the opening of the Rothko Pavilion, named for the Portland-raised artist, which connects the existing two buildings into one continuous structure. According to the museum, "the project adds 100,000 square feet of new or upgraded public and gallery space, provides increased access to our exhibitions and programs, offers new ways to experience the robust collection, and adds new amenities for diverse audiences."
As a longtime supporter of Portland's arts community, Portland Streetcar encourages riders to expose themselves to art and enjoy the activities, events and free access to the museum's new expansion through this weekend.
